Lead with education and target role
List your course or qualification, school and graduation date accurately. Add a short summary that identifies the role you are seeking and the strengths you can demonstrate. Skip generic promises and claims you cannot support.
Show what you actually did
For an internship or school project, write a few clear bullets: what the activity involved, what you did, which tools you used and what came out of it. Use numbers only when you know they are accurate.
Choose a resume template that is easy to scan
One page can be a good target for an entry-level resume if it holds the relevant details; use more space if necessary. Prefer readable font sizes, clean headings and an ATS-friendly layout unless the job asks for a creative portfolio.
Show a useful school activity with an honest label
Illustrative hospitality school activity: Helped prepare the service area for a classroom dining simulation, checked the assigned table setup, and relayed guest requests to the student team. Label this as a school activity. It can demonstrate preparation and communication without claiming employment in a restaurant.
A first resume can include useful evidence without paid employment
The example below uses education, a school project, and volunteer registration. Those activities stay clearly labeled. Use the structure to explain your own contribution, tools, and completed work rather than copying the sample’s qualifications.

What can I include for service crew, cashier, or hospitality applications?
